Our mission is unique, and so is our law firm. We concentrate in managing and resolving complex legal problems and disputes. We handle substantial and challenging transactions. We work proactively and creatively to solve problems in order to achieve our clients' objectives. We litigate vigorously to protect and vindicate our clients' interests.
We offer the same level of sophisticated practice found in the largest law firms in the country. At the same time, we are a small firm dedicated to providing personal attention and service to our clients.
Our mission demands that our attorneys possess the broad view of a generalist, but one whose practice is complemented by detailed legal knowledge. This perspective enables us to identify, evaluate and efficiently manage the entire problem facing our client, while addressing the details necessary to achieve the desired result. To these talents we add the equally necessary ingredients of common sense, interpersonal skills and years of practical experience. The result is timely services that fully meet our clients' needs and expectations.
Why we are unique.
Our style of practice reflects the uniqueness of our mission. Because other firms also offer high-caliber legal services, we think it is important to identify the characteristics that set us apart.
Too often, lawyers avoid taking a stand by offering general advice without solving the problem. It is not enough to simply present legal alternatives. We think it is our job to recommend a specific course of action. This is the proper role of a legal counselor. It is, of course, the client’s prerogative to accept or reject our advice, but our client will always know exactly what we would do if we had to make the final decision, and why.
Clients need and deserve positive advice on how to achieve their purposes. Difficult problems often require innovative solutions. It is not satisfactory to explain why things cannot happen. We are committed to exploring and finding creative alternatives that will work for our clients.
In representing our clients’ interests, one of our important goals is to add value. This requires efficiency and common sense. Legal fees should bear a reasonable relationship to the scope, importance and complexity of the work. Based upon the following principles of practice, we work with our clients to meet this standard.
Efficient staffing
A single partner personally performs or supervises each client’s work and is responsible for the satisfactory completion of the engagement. There is never any question about whom to call with a question or request. Our philosophy is one of “lean staffing.†Associate attorneys or other partners are asked to assist only when they will contribute “value added†by reducing cost or providing specialized knowledge or experience.
Cutting-edge technology
To promote efficiency, our offices are fully networked, integrated and linked. Our attorneys use state-of-the-art computer-aided research. Consistent with client preferences and the demands of confidentiality, we often communicate by e-mail as a means of simplifying and expediting the exchange of information.
Professional development
Investment in the professional development of our attorneys yields significant benefits for our clients. We maintain our compensation structure at a level that allows us to attract and retain first-rate legal talent. We require our attorneys to pursue substantial programs of continuing legal education so that their knowledge base is constantly updated.
Superior support staff
Our attorneys are supported by staff possessing superior levels of education, skill and training. Under the supervision of our attorneys, they perform — at a lower cost — support activities that would be assigned to associate lawyers in other firms.
